The midfielder drives through Romania, beating a number of players, before getting into the area.

He unleashes a low strike that is heading for the bottom corner, but Bogdan Racovitan throws his body in the way.

Reijnders calls for handball, but nothing doing with that one.

Stefan de Vrij and Nicolae Stanciu go in for a 50-5- challenge and both come out of it rolling in pain.

The free-kick does go Romania’s way, and Stanciu recovers to take it, but it is punched away by Bart Verbruggen.

Romania will take that at half-time. They started brightly but since the goal, it’s been all Holland. They’ve not taken their chances though and they might come to rue them. Denzel Dumfries – named after Denzel Washington – is great to watch. More touches than anyone else in the first-half and he’s been relentless up and down the right flank.

You knew exactly what he was going to do when he cut inside, he does it so, so often for his country.

It’s a brilliant finish, but Florin Nita will be annoyed at himself, he should do better at his near post.

He has only made 10 appearances across those two tournaments.

It doesn’t take long for them to recycle the ball, however, and get back on the attack.

The Netherlands have been on the back foot, but they do win themselves a corner.

Memphis Depay whips it in and Nathan Ake meets it, but his tame header causes no problems.

The atmosphere’s top class. It’s a festival of colour. It takes a lot to outnumber the Dutch but Romania have done that. There’s pockets of yellow everywhere and either side of that huge block of yellow behind the Dutch goal. I must say I am slightly annoyed that Netherlands aren’t wearing the orange kit here. I can’t be the only one…
